Initially established in 1973 to operate Seventh-day Adventist healthcare organizations in the Southern and Southwestern regions of the United States, Adventist Health System (AHS) is now the largest not-for-profit, protestant healthcare system in the United States. Adventist Health System currently operates 38 hospitals totaling more than 6,300 beds, 19 extended-care facilities, and more than 20 home health, hospice, medical equipment, and infusion entities in 11 states.
