Job Description
The Pediatric Clinical Staff Pharmacist is responsible for the preparation, dispensing, and monitoring of medications used throughout the facility. The position is rooted in traditional roles of order processing/dispensing (Pyxis Connect) but affords multiple daily opportunites for direct involvement with patient care. Additional traditional responsibilities include chemotherapy preparation (Mobile Isolation Chamber) and IV batch checking (prepared in satellite pharmacy). Daily clinical responsiblities include attendance at multidisciplinary rounds (Pediatric Oncology/PICU), pharmacokinetics services, TPN/nutrition monitoring, and provision of drug information. The pediatric pharmacist fills an integral role in patient care and is highly regarded by physicians and nurses. The pharmacist is expected to sustain an environment for the safe, rational, effective, and efficient use of medications prescribed to patients of all age groups. Pharmacists are responsible for the direct supervision of technical support personnel. All job duties shall be performed in accordance with all applicable State and Federal laws, JCAHO, and professional practice standards, and policies and procedures of the health system/pharmacy department.
Job Qualifications/Requirements: Education: Doctor of Pharmacy from College of Pharmacy accredited by American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Experience: Completion of Pharmacy Practice or Pediatric Specialty Residency (ASHP accredidation preferred)OR Equivalent Pediatric Experience preferred. Training: Licensure: State of Florida Department of Professional Regulation, Registered Pharmacist Licensure Other: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, data entry skills, analytical and basic math skills required.
