Job Description
Staff Pharmacist Job - San Francisco, CA - BioScrip
Responsible for providing quality patient care and health care provider consultation in the areas of specialty pharmacy including biotech injectable medications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides drug and disease consultation to patients, physicians, organ transplant coordinators, and other health care providers via the telephone and/or internet.
- Performs DUR to ensure appropriateness of drug therapy.
- Verifies accuracy of order entry and fulfillment.
- Contacts pharmaceutical manufacturers to research drug storage requirements and stability.
- Utilizes clinical expertise to implement and maintain e-commerce capabilities.
- Assists in the training of off-site pharmacists and patient specialists.
- Integral member of patient services team providing input into process improvement and new initiatives.
- Assures that pharmacy personnel are following all applicable federal and state pharmacy laws.
- Participates in patient medication adherence programs.
- May participate in on-call pharmacist rotation.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pharm D. or BS Pharmacy degree with applicable pharmacist license required.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- 3-5 years experience in retail or mail order environment
- 2 years experience with injectable and/or organ transplant medications preferred.
