Job Description
General Description: Under the direction of a pharmacist, the pharmacy technician performs pharmacy- related functions, in compliance with department policies and procedures that provide optimal pharmaceutical care. Schedule: 12:00-8:30 p.m. Monday-Friday Qualifications: • National certification desirable or preferred • Strong organizational, prioritization, communications & mathematical skills Required • Knowledge of medication brand and generic names. • Understanding of medical terminology and calculations. • Ability to understand the importance of and respect the confidentiality of all patient information. • Professional demeanor.
Experience and Skills: Responsibilities: include but are not limited to: • Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with local, state, federal, and Company regulations. • Non-sterile compounding and prepacking of stock including preparation of equipment and labels, and worksheets, packing and labeling of product, quality control procedures. • Stock control functions including stock level audits, expiry date checking, stock file maintenance, internal stock movements, recycling of stock returned to pharmacy. • General duties including photocopying, filing, printing patient requests and other reports, general tidying and cleaning of work area and general maintenance of equipment and materials. • Assist the pharmacist with filling and labeling prescriptions. • Assist in training new employees • Assist other pharmacy technicians • Maintains knowledge of loss prevention techniques Process Measures: Prepare Cost Effective Timely Dispenses for final inspection by a registered pharmacist. Outcome Measures: Accuracy in dispensing and preparing medications for final inspection Additional Opportunities: Assist other pharmacy technicians
