Job Description
DIRECTOR OF PHARMACY HOUSTON, TX

Description The Director of Pharmacy will oversee the multi-facility Pharmacy Departments located within the South Texas area. The Director is responsible for the overall direction and supervision of the pharmacy department and implementation of the Strategic Plan for Safe Medication Management. The Director ensures the Pharmacy complies with all state certifications and regulations, Medicare and federal regulations and maintains JCAHO, accreditation. The Director develops and implements applicable policies, procedures, and standards of practice for the Pharmacy and complies with all hospital policies and procedures. The Director hires, supervises, delegates, and coordinates personnel in the pharmacy department. Promotes teamwork with physicians, nurses, and personnel of other departments. *Salary based on experience.

Department highlights: - The Director shall be assisted by a pharmacy manager from each site - Non-24 hour pharmacy operation - Omnicell Medstations will be used as the primary distribution system - Patient population ranges from 18 years to geriatric, experiencing medically complex conditions, general medical-surgical conditions, with rehabilitation and/or wound care needs Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Ability to project a professional Image. - Current knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations that apply to hospital practices in long-term acute care. - Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements. - Working knowledge and ability to apply professional standards of practice in job situations. - Strong organizational and analytical skills. - Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions (Word processing, graphics, databases, spreadsheets, etc.) - Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in this position. - Freedom from illegal use of drugs. - Freedom from use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Hospital Pharmacy Administration or Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred. Three (3) years experience in a hospital pharmacy setting expected. Three (3) years of management experience is a minimum expected requirement. Must meet the state board of pharmacy requirements as pharmacist in charge for the hospital. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current Pharmacists license to practice by the state of employment. Maintains current BLS certification throughout employment.
