Job Description
Technicians are cross trained for all stations: Pre-Pack: 1.Accurately packages assigned medications in blister cards and prepares for pharmacist review and sign off. 2.Uses packaging machines according to directions and reports any malfunction promptly to supervisor. 3.Keeps work station orderly at all times. 4.Follows pharmacy packaging process guidelines. Ex-Temp 1.Accurately packages and labels medications in blister card. 2.Mark any opened vials of drugs to assure that inventory is rotated before expiry. 3.Prioritize work and work efficiently without distractions/interruptions. Picking: 1.Pull drugs from appropriate bins and label as directed. 2.Assure that auxiliary labels are placed if needed being careful not to cover any pertinent resident information on the label. 3.Initial or stamp all blister cards prepared. 4.Return unused drugs to the appropriate bin – review the label three times to assure that the drug is placed in the correct bin. 5.Note any bins that are low in inventory and notify purchasing in writing using the correct communication slip. 6.Obtain pharmacist check at appropriate steps in the process. 7.Respects the privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient information and property. Accesses only the minimum amount of patient protected health information needed to perform their job well.
