Description The Pharmacist assures the safe and appropriate use of drugs through the provision of drug information, drug therapy monitoring, distributive and supervisory pharmacy services within the framework of hospital and pharmacy policy, standard practices, and state and federal laws. FT 10p-7a Mon.-Fri. and 7p-7a Saturday and Sunday every other week Key Responsibilities: · Insures the provision of pharmaceutical services in assigned area, following all established procedures and standard guidelines assuming ultimate responsibility. · Provides improved patient care through drug information, drug therapy monitoring and patient/staff education. · Supervises technicians, evaluates job performance, recommends merit pay increases and participates in recruiting, interviewing and hiring of new technicians. Exercises ability to lead, motivate, evaluate, organize, coordinate and make decisions. · Demonstrates and maintains professional knowledge/technical skills and exhibits the ability to communicate this expertise to others. Participates in servicing new employees and continuing education for existing staff. · Acts as a liaison between pharmacy and assigned patient care area solving distribution problems and monitoring drug supplies for proper storage, etc. · Makes beneficial recommendations for improvements in procedures, guidelines and continuing education training. · Exhibits good interpersonal skills in dealing with subordinates, peers, supervisors and others outside of the department. Requirements Education: Graduate of and ACPE accredited college of pharmacy. Experience: Internship required, ASHP accredited residency and/or hospital pharmacy experience preferred. Number and Type of Employees Supervised (optional): 0-4 Technicians Licensure, Registry or Certification Required: S. C. Registered Pharmacist License Special Training: Must have thorough knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology; possess good mathematical, computer and aseptic technique skills. Must have problem solving abilities; able to work in team situations; handle urgent, stressful conditions.PHA and departmental mandatory training required annually. Will administer medications in emergency situations.
