Phoenix Children’s Hospital is the only specialty children’s hospital in Arizona and it is poised to become one of the foremost pediatric hospitals in the nation. The hospital is home to the state’s largest group of pediatric specialists and sub-specialists. In addition, the hospital continues to evolve its clinical practices and is working with leading local and national research partners to uncover new breakthroughs in pediatric medicine.

Currently a 299 bed facility, new construction plans were unveiled in October 2006 that include the building of two new patient bed towers and expansion in bed capacity and other key programs and services over the course of the next several years. Primary Purpose:

The Pharmacist Intern under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist oversees the daily activities of the medication use process and provides comprehensive pharmacy services to patients from neonate to young adulthood. Additionally, they perform the duties of a pharmacist intern or graduate intern as defined by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy Administrative Code R4-23-402-407 and Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The successful candidate will have to demonstrate competencies during the orientation and education process. CB

Work Environment:

Must be able to use hands to finger, handle or feel, sit, stand, walk, lift up to 20 pounds, stoop, clean, bend, and reach with hands and arms.
Must communicate clearly in English. Requires the ability to speak, read, write, see, and hear to perform essential
duties of the job. Effective and positive human relations skills are required, including confidentiality, in order to appropriately interface with staff, patients, and their families. Must be able to perform multiple tasks and detailed work, problem solve, reason, and perfrom basic mathematics calculations.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

1. Must demonstrate behaviors consistent with those identified as PCH core value behaviors.
2. Current licensure as a pharmacy Intern or Graduate intern with Arizona State Board of Pharmacy and be near successful completion of all experiential training programs required for licensure as defined in R4-23-301A-E of the Arizona Code.
3. Must demonstrate preparedness for sitting for the NAPLEX or AZPLEX.
4. A desire to experience and participate in a pediatric pharmacy practice setting is preferred.
