Job Description
Supervises the pharmacy and maintains pharmacy operations in accordance with the departmental standards and government laws and regulations. The Assistant Supervisor has all supervisory, managerial, and administrative responsibilities including hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating staff.
This position consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to the applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Oversees workflow processes, provides work direction and coordinates the activities of all pharmacists and support personnel to include appropriate scheduling of personnel to meet customer service, performance and quality assurance objectives.
Develops and communicates service, performance and quality assurance expectations and sets goals with staff that are consistent with department and regional goals and objectives.
Facilitates organizational change and conflict resolution.
Interviews, selects, hires, orients, instructs, trains, counsels, evaluates, disciplines, and terminates staff.
Monitors and evaluates existing service levels, systems, procedures and practices and recommends appropriate changes or additions consistent with the department?s goals and objectives as required.
Coordinates and manages the budgetary needs.
Collaborates with facility medical and nursing personnel on regional initiatives relative to the delivery of services.
8. Assures compliance to all regulatory rules and regulations and Kaiser Permanente?s policies and procedures and professional practice standards which include but are not limited to:
Drug Enforcement Administration
State Boards of Pharmacy
HIPAA
Principles of Responsibility
Proper use of Kaiser Permanente personal computers and applications
9. Implements policies and procedures relating to pharmacy operations and professional practice standards and implements initiatives consistent with program goals and objectives.
10. Resolves daily operational problems and performs the general duties of a pharmacist.
11. Promotes loyalty and morale by creating a climate that encourages professional development, individual creativity, innovation and a high level of productivity.
12. Works collaboratively with pharmacy management to further develop supervisory skills and assume additional management responsibility.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS-Relevant Years of Experience
Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required.
Demonstrated personnel management skills required
Knowledge of federal and state laws as they pertain to pharmacy required.
One year pharmacist experience required and/or on the pharmacy management career tract required.
Business/Health Care management experience preferred
Education and/or Classes
BS in Pharmacy or PharmD required.
Advanced degree in business or health care administration required or one year of experience in a leadership role required.
License, Certification and/or Designation
Licensed to practice pharmacy in assigned jurisdiction required.
