Job Description
The Staff Pharmacist position fulfills prescription orders, supervise pharmacy technicians assisting in completing prescription orders, and provide consultation with patients and physicians as appropriate resulting in customers' (patients, physician offices, manufacturer partners, MCO's) expectation for service being exceeded.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Receive prescription information, review for appropriateness and review prescription information input by pharmacy technicians for accuracy. Perform pharmaceutical care reviews for Drug Utilization; Drug Interactions, appropriate dosing and indications then consult with physicians and patients to insure appropriate therapy is delivered. Provide education to patients including the therapy protocol, drug administration, adverse reaction management, and consultation on adherence, and therapy issues. Maintain current licensure in Massachusetts and other states as required to provide pharmacy services by mail. Participate in Continuing Education (CE) curriculum directly related to the target specialties. Participate in the development, training and adherence of standard operating procedures to insure integrity of the services and quality standards are maintained. Participate in the development, training and implementation of continuous quality improvement processes to enhance service levels and efficiency. Fulfill prescription orders and/or review prescription orders fulfilled by pharmacy technicians for accuracy and completeness. Order inventory and/or review inventory orders to insure in-stock position of fast moving products balanced against inventory turns comparable to other mail service pharmacies. Insure complete insurance information is input accurately, obtain prior authorization as appropriate and assist in editing and re-submitting pharmacy claims for reimbursement. Adherence to company policy on reimbursement and accounts receivable is essential. This job description is not intended to be all encompassing. Qualifications Registered Pharmacist in the State of Massachusetts. Mail service pharmacy experience a plus. Compounding and/or specialty pharmacy experience a plus.
