Job Description
Job Details: The Lead Pharmacy Technician orients and trains all technicians in the areas of general dispensing, safety, quality control, and IV mixtures. The successful candidate will have to demonstrate mastery of all job functions of Tech I, II and Specialist as documented in technician competencies for incumbent on file and observation. They must demonstrate superior teaching skills and able to present information in a clear and understandable format. Assist with JCAHO compliance and readiness. Failure to demonstrate proficiency within the stated period will result in reclassification to Pharmacy Technician Specialist or termination, as appropriate.

Lead Pharmacy Technician requires 3 years of experience with IV admixtures including preparation of Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) solutions and Chemotherapy admixture solutions using aseptic technique.

The Lead Pharmacy Technician must maintain their Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification at all times. Failure to maintain certification and licensure with the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Basic Education
High School Diploma or GED

Basic Eligibility
Be at least 18 years of age

Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician

PTCB Certification

Basic Experience
Three (3) yrs of Intravenous tech experience and completion of Pharmacy Technician Specialist Proficiency Checklist (new hires complete checklist within 30 days of hire)



Basic Field-of-Expertise (if applicable)
Knowledge of pharmacy and medical terminology with ability to read and interpret physician orders.
