Direct, supervise and coach the individuals within the Pharmcy Department that report to you. Develop and implement pharmacy programs / initiatives within the health plans to achieve cost, quality and utilization objectives, ensure national initiatives are implemented within the health plans Communicate effectively with key customers (including state agencies) to keep them informed of pharmacy programs / issues Communicate effectively with network physicians, clinics, and hospitals regarding pharmacy program, preferred drug list and pharmacy processes. Analysis of pharmacy claim data and reports to identify key drivers of cost / utilization changes and opportunities for improvement; communicate findings within the department and within the health plan Provide routine, timely and accurate communication to health plan management regarding pharmacy programs, cost issues, utilization issues, budget performance, etc. Support health plan initiatives that include pharmacy components Develop close working relationship with other pharmacy managers within the company, other departments within the company that work with pharmacy and vendors that are associated with pharmacy Contribute to accreditation activities and audits
Qualifications BS Pharmacy or Pharm.D degree Active pharmacist license in AZ, in good standing MS or MBA preferred 3-5 years experience in managed care Prior experience in government programs (Medicaid, Medicare) preferred Solid understanding of clinical pharmacy programs, with emphasis on program development and delivery. Excellent planning, analytic and communications ability. Project management expertise with an emphasis on detail and follow through. Previous experience and ability to work with high level executives and clinicians as well as the skills to develop effective working relationships with staff in various departments. Ability to work independently and within a team; excellent coaching skills. Familiarity and use of the Internet, as well as Word, Access and PowerPoint programs.
