North Austin Medical Center – Pharmacy
The pharmacy provides 24 hour inpatient pharmacy services for the patients of North Austin Medical Center from the main pharmacy located on the ground floor. ICU services are provided from the 1st floor ICU satellite pharmacy. The NAMC Pharmacy was one of the first in Central Texas to offer fully bar-coded medications that are linked with the facilities electronic medication administration record system (eMAR) and one of the first to offer electronic provider order entry (ePOM) capabilities. The NAMC Pharmacy is able to provide most all pharmaceutical needs including sterile products, chemotherapy, compounding, educational and clinical pharmacy services. The pharmacy currently provides rotation opportunities for pharmacy interns in pharmacy management, adult medicine, and institutional practice. Most rotations are associated with the University of Texas. The NAMC Pharmacy also provides rotation opportunities for pharmacy technicians who are seeking certification. Most rotations are associated with Austin Community College.
South Austin Hospital -Pharmacy
Open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, the Department of Pharmacy Services provides comprehensive pharmaceutical services for all patients in the hospital, including neonate through geriatric age categories utilizing age appropriate considerations. Skills required are those of Registered Pharmacists licensed to practice Pharmacy by the State of Texas and certified Pharmacy Technicians in preparing and dispensing pharmaceuticals.
Scope of Services: Services include but are not limited to the following:
Collaborating with Medical Staff Advisors in preparing a Hospital Formulary.
Distributing, administering, and documenting controlled substances as required by law.
Storing, distributing, and controlling investigational medications used in clinical trial.
Preparing and dispensing medications to patient care areas. Automated dispensing machines throughout the hospital
Inspecting and restocking expired medications throughout the hospital, including emergency carts.
Assuring the availability, control, and security of emergency medications throughout the hospitalRestocking and maintaining automated dispensing machines
Utilizing a unit-dose dispensing system
Managing an intravenous admixture program, including TPN preparation.
Collaborating with Nursing and Dietary Services for drug/food interaction information for patients.Reviewing prescriptions and orders before medication is dispensed with consideration of drug/drug interactions and other important information concerning the patient.
Maintaining patient medication administration record.
Utilizes digital scanning for physician order processing
An Admissions Pharmacist dedicated to new admissions throughout the hospital.
Collaborating with physicians as needed to assure use of most efficacious medication.
Presenting patient and staff education programs.
Instituting controls to minimize errors
Maintaining the quality, efficacy, and potency of medications.
Retrieving and safely disposing of discontinued, expired, or recalled medications.
Evaluates medication management system to improve safety

Round Rock Medical Center – Pharmacy
The pharmacy provides 24 hour service and has been on eMAR since September 2004. We currently operate out of a centralized pharmacy, but will have a satellite in the new OR in the future. We provide rotations for ACC pharmacy technician students and the University of Texas College of Pharmacy interns. 16 Full Time Employees
