Job Description
Under the direction of the Pharmacy Director, manages operational aspects of the Pharmacy Department, including staffing and training; drug distribution, maintenance of systems; and development, revision, and implementation of department policies and procedures. It is expected that the Operations Manager will maintain the highest standards within the department and will ensure that all activities that occur are in accordance with Federal and State law and regulations and JCAHO standards. The Operations Manager will also perform the duties for the Director of Pharmacy in his/her absence. Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy required. Advanced degree, residency or equivalent experience preferred. Must be a licensed pharmacist in the state of Massachusetts. Minimum of 3 years experience as a Registered Pharmacist in a hospital setting, with a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory position. Must be fluent in IV admixture, unit-dose, and computer applications. Must be able to review medication therapies for appropriate dosing for patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics.
